Bio:
Greetings. I am the new principal at La Luz and High Rolls Elementary here in Alamogordo Public Schools. So, I will give you all a brief bio of myself. I was a military brat, so my family has lived in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Venezuela, and the Washington D.C. area. I graduated from high school in Virginia and got my bachelor's degree in advertising and a minor in marketing and Spanish from Texas Tech University, but had a deep calling to be an elementary school teacher. So, I got my deficiency plan in math and elementary in August of 1991. In 1995, I started my master's degree in education and graduated in the summer of 2000. I have taught second, third, and fourth grade. During this time, I won Teacher of the Year at Sam Houston Elementary in Grand Prairie ISD, as well as Teacher of the Year at Webb Elementary School in Arlington ISD. In 2002, I became a math instructional coach until 2016 in Arlington ISD. I retired from Stratford ISD in 2021 and moved to New Mexico to continue my passion. I was hired in Carrizozo Municipal Schools to teach third grade and after a year and a half, I had a desire to be in administration. I accepted an elementary school principal position in Cobre Consolidated School District at Bayard Elementary School. Around Spring Break this year, I decided to move closer to Texas to be closer to my parents in Texas and applied to Alamogordo Public Schools. I am blessed to be the new principal of La Luz and High Rolls Elementary School. I look forward to a new school year at La Luz and High Rolls Elementary School. See you soon!
